Stratified squamous epithelium is multilayered in nature. These cells are cuboidal or columnar in shape. They offer protection mainly by deposition of keratin. They are mainly found in the skin.Squamous epithelium is single layered cells which perform diffusion.*They are mainly concentrated in the areas of gas exchange, nutrient and waste exchange and in the filtration areas of kidneys.*They also secrete lubricating fluid in lining of body cavities.
