Mountain climbing is not done for fame alone. There are many other aspects related to it. Man is a pleasure-seeking being. The adventure and thrill associated with mountaineering attracts many people.
Mountain climbing provides one to assess one’s endurance, persistence, and will power. Mountain climbing is also symbolic of climbing the inner summits to reach to a fuller knowledge of himself. For all these benefits one is attracted to climb mountains.

According to Major, internal summits help one to rise in life.
- The question has been asked from the story The Summit Within.
- Major was a participant in the first Indian expedition to Everest. He recounts his ascent of the highest peak and how the physical challenge transforms one on a personal and spiritual level.
- Everest, according to major, was more than simply a physical challenge. Standing on the peak of the mountain, he realised how little he was in the grand scheme of things.
- He felt a sense of accomplishment. Thus, internal peaks may be higher than Everest, but his experience motivated him to confront life's challenges with determination, which can be true in case of any person.
