The property by virtue the substance can be beaten into thin sheets is known as mallaebility.

For example;

Aluminum can be beaten into thin sheets which we called as Aluminum foils.

Gold can also be beaten into thin sheets.

Basically metals shows these property and nonmetal breaked when hammered(brittle)
