If we break the word 'malnutrition', mal means lack of something, and nutrition means the food that we require for growth and development.

So basically, malnutrition means the lack of nutrition that is necessary for the proper growth of an individual. A healthy individual should eat a balanced meal consisting of adequate amounts of carbohydrates, fats, and vitamins.

The diseases that can be caused by malnutrition are -

  2. Marasmus - caused by the severe lack of fats and proteins.
