In organic chemistry, Markovnikov's rule or Markownikoff's rule describes the outcome of some addition reactions. The rule was formulated by Russian chemist Vladimir Markovnikov in 1865.

Arnokinov's rule states that when a molecule is attached to a olefin(unsaturated hydrocarbon), the negative radicle of the adding molecule gets attached to the carbon atom with less number of hydrogen atoms.
