The masses refers to a large, general group of regular folks — the common people of a society. If you're super rich, you ride around in a private jet while the masses take crowded buses. The masses don't include celebrities, rich people, royalty, or political leaders. The masses are everybody else.

Social class, also called class, a group of people within a society who possess the same socioeconomic status. Besides being important in social theory, the concept of class as a collection of individuals sharing similar economic circumstances has been widely used in censuses and in studies of social mobility.

Upper class in modern societies is the social class composed of people who hold the highest social status, usually are the wealthiest members of class society, and wield the greatest political power.

According to this view, the upper class is generally distinguished by immense wealth which is passed on from generation to generation.
