Also given,the mass of the water is 50gm.Therefore,the mass of the solution is sum of mass of solute and mass of solvent.Mathematically we write it as

m_{s}=m_{solt.}+m_{solv.}

Substituting the masses of solute and solvent in above relation,we get

m_{s}=5gm + 50gm = 55gm

Now,the mass percentage is calculated based on the following relation as shown

m\%=\frac{m_{solute}}{m_{s}} \times 100 \\  =  \frac{5}{55}  \times 100 = 9.09\% ≈9.1\%

Therefore,The mass percentage of the solute is 9.1%
