Here's your answer :-

Mastication or chewing is a process by which food is crushed down by teeth. It's also the first step of digestion. It finally increases the surface area of the food thus helping in efficient breaking down into simpler substances using enzymes.

THE PROCESS FROM WHICH THE FOOD IS CRUSHED AND THIS FOOD IS GROUND TO THE TEETH IS CALLED THE MASTICATION

_____________________________

1. MASTICATION IS THE FIRST STEP OF THE DIGESTION

2. AFTER CHEWING, THE FOOD WHICH IS NOW CALLED A BOLUS IS SWALLOWED. IT ENTERS THE OESOPHAGUS AND VIA PERISTALSIS CONTINUES ON TO THE STOMACH, WHERE THE NEXT STEP OF DIGESTION OCCURS
