Answer:

Matter can be classified according to physical and chemical properties. Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass. The three states of matter are solid, liquid, and gas. A physical change involves the conversion of a substance from one state of matter to another, without changing its chemical composition.

Answer:

Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. Matter exist in three main stages that is solid, liquid and gaseous state.

Now let us classify matter.

Can matter be physically separated? If yes then it is a MIXTURE if no then it is a PURE SUBSTANCE.

Can a pure substance be chemically decomposed? If  yes, then it is a COMPOUND, and if no, it is an ELEMENT

Is the composition of a mixture uniform? If yes the mixture or solution is HOMOGENEOUS, and if no the mixture is HETEROGENEOUS.

Now lets define those terms in caps lock.

A mixture is a combination of substances not chemically combined and can be separated by physical means.

Two types exist; homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures

Homogeneous mixtures  are mixtures in which the composition is uniform throughout the mixture.

Heterogenous mixtures are mixtures in which the composition is non uniform throughout the mixture.

A pure substance is one that contains only one element or compound.

Two types exist compounds and elements

A compound is a substance that contains atoms of two or more different elements which are chemically joined together.

An element is a pure substance that cannot be broken down by chemical or physical means.
