heya,
anything which occupies space and has mass is called as matter.
matter are in two ways : physical properties and chemical properties.
Physical property matter is classified as Solids, Liquids and gases..
Chemical property matter is classified as Elements , Compounds and mixtures..
Everything around us is made up of tiny particles.
Characteristics of Particles of Matter.
The particles of matter are (i) very very well.
(ii) Have space between them.
(iii) Constantly moving.
(iv) Attract each other..
Solids, Liquids and Gases are called as The Three State of Matter.
Properties of Solids.
(i) Solids have fixed shape and a fixed volume.
(ii) Solid cannot be compressed much.
(iii) Solids have high density.
(iv) Solid do not fill their containers completely.
(v) Solid do not flow.
examples are brick, chair, book, etc.
Properties of Liquids.
(i) Liquids have a fixed volume but no fixed shape.
(ii) Liquids cannot be compressed much.
(iii) Liquids have less density than Solids.
(iv) Liquid do not fill their containers completely.
(v) liquid generally flow easily.
examples are milk, oil, water, etc.
Properties of Gases.
(i) Gases have neither fixed shape nor a fixed volume.
(ii) Gases can be compressed easily.
(iii) Gases have very low density.
(iv) Gases fill their containers completely.
(v) gases flow easily.
examples are air, oxygen, steam, etc.
thanks...
