Q. What is matter?

Classify on the basis of its physical properties.

Anything that have mass, occupy space and produces and obstructions is called matter.

Ex:- Air, Water, Wood Etc.

On the basis of physical properties Matter are classified on three types :-

1)Solid

2) Liquid

3)Gases

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

✒✒✒✒It is the type of matter having fixed mass, and fixed volumes .

Properties of Solid :-

1) They have higher intermolecular forces.

2) The intermolecular space between particles of solid is negligible.

3) They are rigid and hard.

4)Their melting and boiling point is very high.

✒✒✒✒The second states of matter having fixed mass but not fixed volumes it takes the shape of vessels in which it kept.

Properties of liquids:-

1) The intermolecular forces in liquid lies between solid and gases.

2) The intermolecular spaces is greater than solid but less than liquid.

3) Liquid is also known as fluids because they have tendency to flow.

4)The particles of liquid moves in whole volume.

5)It expand on heating and contact on colling.

\huge\bold\</em></strong><strong><em>b</em></strong><strong><em>l</em></strong><strong><em>a</em></strong><strong><em>c</em></strong><strong><em>k</em></strong><strong><em>{</em></strong><strong><em>G</em></strong><strong><em>a</em></strong><strong><em>s</em></strong><strong><em>e</em></strong><strong><em>s</em></strong><strong><em>}

✒✒✒✒It is the third states of matter having No volumes and not fixed shape.

Properties of Gases :-

1) They have higher intermolecular space.

2) They have negligible intermolecular forces between their particles.

3) They have higher kinetic energy in comparison of any other states.

4) They convert in liquid by lowering the temperature or increasing the pressure.

5)They exert forces on the wall of container in which it kept.
