Anything that occupy space and has sudden mass is called matter.You cannot say love,feelings,etc. as matter beacuse these only can be felt and not occupy space at all.

There are five states of matter- solid ,liquid, gas ,plasma state and Bose Eistein condenstae (BEC)

For example - chair ,table ,perfume,water,etc.
