Answer:

Key Concepts. Matter on Earth is in the form of solid, liquid, or gas. Solids, liquids, and gases are made of tiny particles called atoms and molecules. In a solid, the particles are very attracted to each other. They are close together and vibrate in position but don't move past one another

is anything that occupies space and has mass. everything in this universe is made up of matter

generally there are of three states of matter

i) solid

solid is a state of matter in which the particles are closely packed in solid the intermolecular spaces are the least and the intermolecular forces are the very strong, solid can't be compressed

it has definite shape and volume and mass. kinetic energy of solid are the least.

ii) liquid

liquid is a state of matter in which particles are loosely packed

intermolecular spaces are more than solid but less than gas

the intermolecular forces are less than solid but more than gas

it do not have a definite shape it takes the shape of the container in which it is kept

but it has a definite volume

liquid can be compressed.kinetic energy of liquid is more than solid but less than gas

iii) gas

is a state of matter in which the molecules are far apart from each other they have the most intermolecular spaces and least intermolecular forces , it do not have a fixed volume and neither a fixed shape it spreads into the whole container in which it is kept gas can be compressed easily

kinetic energy of gas molecules are the most

.

further there are two more discovered states that is plasma and Bose Einstein condensate (BEC) Bose Einstein condensate was covered by Satyendra nath Bose and Albert Einstein . state was made by a group of 3 scientist.

plasma state is present in the stars and the sun.

plasma state is known as super excited state because the molecules are very very hot and a lot of kinetic energy is present in the molecules of plasma state
