Reproduction: The production of new individuals from their parents is  known as reproduction. There ae two types of :

  • Sexual reproduction
  • Asexual reproduction

Sexual reproduction : The process by which plants can give rise to new

plants with seeds is called Sexual reproduction.

Asexual reproduction : The process by which plants can give rise to new

plants without seeds is called Asexual reproduction.

Pollination : The transfer of pollen from the anther to the stigma of a flower is called pollination. Pollination occurs only in Sexual reproduction. The two types of pollination are :

  • Self pollination
  • Cross-pollination

Self pollination : If the pollen grains lands on the stigma of the same flower it is called self-pollination.

Cross-pollination : If the pollen of a flower lands on the stigma of another flower of the same plant, or of a different plant of the same kind, it is called cross-pollination.
