The number of atoms in LHS of a chemical equation should be equal to no of atoms in RHS of the equation. It is based upon the law of conservation of mass. For example : 2H2 + O2 = 2H2O Here no of hydrogen atoms in LHS is equal to no of hydrogen atoms in RHS. Also no of oxygen atoms is equal in both the sides of the equation. Hope this will help you.
