Twins- two individuals produced from single pregnancy.
Zygote - it is the result of two fused haploid gametes, in other words it can be stated as the fertilised ovum.
Twins are of two types..
a) identical b) non identical

b) Non - Identical / Dizygotic twins:

Two zygotes are produced in the womb of the pregnant mother. So, two individuals are formed.
As it involves two zygotes it is termed as 'dizygotic pregnancy' and the twins are called 'dizygotic twins'.

a) Identical / Monozygotic twins:
Only one zygote is produced, but it splits into two embryos and as a result, two individuals are produced.
