I think ur asking magnetic quantum number
it's not L to L it is -l to +l
L is azimuthal quantum number
L =0,s-subshell,0
L =1,p-subshell, -1,0,1
L =2,d-subshell, -2,-1,0,1,2
L =3,f-subshell, -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3
..

thank u

Answer:
In my experience, an “L” refers to take an above ground ( or ‘'elevated’) subway line. Given the fact that it is above ground, quite a distance above street level, it wasn't felt right to continue to call them ‘'subways’ as in underground, so they were called elevated subway, which eventually devolved into simply “the L.”
