Lunar eclipse is formed when earth comes in between sun and moon in a straight line.Here moon appears to be dark as the shadow of earth falls on moon.

Lunar eclipse is an eclipse in which the moon passes into the shadow of the earth as the position of the earth moon and sun is in straight line. the earth forms a shadow on the moon.
