The Transfer of pollen grains from the stamen (anther) which is male reproductive part of flower to the carpel (stigma) is called as pollination.
Self pollination is in which the pollen grains are transferred to the stigma of the same flower it belongs to. This happens in bisexual plants like hibiscus.
Cross pollination is in whole pollen grains is transferred to the stigma of different flower.This happens in unisexual flowers like papaya and watermelon. The pollen grain from a male flower reaches the stigma of a female flower through means like air,water and animals.

- Geitonogamy
- Autogamy
- Hybridization
Autogamy and Geitonogamy comes under self pollination in which transfer of pollen grain takes place in one plant.
Xenogamy and Hybridization comes under cross pollination in which participation of more than one plant .
