In a democracy when a constitution is enacted, some rights are given to the citizens of the country. These rights are also known as "Fundamental rights". These rights are essential for maintaining the dignity of the citizens.

As a democracy is a type of government where the citizens decide whom to choose as their leader and whom to not, These rights act as a driving factor for the candidate to make his portfolio of promises he wants to make to win.

In case of INDIA there are some rights provided to her citizens, like.
1. Right to equality,
2 Right to freedom,
3. Right to Information (RTI)
4. Right against exploitation,
5. Right to freedom of religion,
6. Right to life
7. Cultural and Educational rights
8. Right to constitutional remedies,

Yes, citizen's right can be abolished if necessary.
example:
Right to property was a fundamental right, provided by the constitution of India. But in 1978 it was abolished.
