the amount of heat energy absorbed at contant temperature by unit mass of a solid to convert into liquid phase is called the specific latent heat of fusion

Answer:

latent means hidden heat,when u give heat to a substance, it will used in two type 1 to change its meadium and 2 for increasing temperature.

if it use in changing medium then the heat cant feel ,it will hidden and not use in raising temperature so called latent heat.
