THE REVOLT OF 1857 WAS THE LAND MARK IN INDIAN HISTORY. THIS IS FIRST WAR OF INDIAN INDEPENDENCE WAS A PERIOD OF REBELLIONS IN NORTHERN ANS CENTRAL INDIA AGAINST THE BRITISH POWER IN 1857 TO 1858. THE BRITISH USUALLY REFER THIS REBELLION AS THE INDIAN MUTINY OR THE SEPOY MUTINY. IT IS WIDELY ACKNOWLEDGED TO BE THE FIRST EVER UNITED REBELLION AGAINST THE COLONIAL RULE IN INDIA.
