and

lateral surface area is the curved surrace area of any figure

lateral surface area :- (let's take an example of cube)out of the six faces leaving the bottom and top faces , area of only the four faces is called as lateral surface area.
it is also used to find area of four walls, leaving the top and bottom

total surface area :- out of the 6 faces including the bottom and top face, area of all faces is called as total surface area.
