The food stored in leaves is transported to each cell in the plant body. Excess food, except amino acids is stored in roots, fruits and seeds. This process is called translocation. It is carried out in both upward and downward directions of phloem. For this process energy is obtained from ATP.

Translocation is said to be done when transportation of food takes place in the plants..tere is only definiton of translocation ..not a detailed mechanism..hope it helps
