besides peropositional phrases being amiguous between adverbs abd noun phrase modifiers ,stacking quantifiers also exibits syntactic ambiguity. for eg: priya washed the dishes in the sink.

this sentence is amiguous,and that prepositional phrase can be read in two ways:

either as 'priya washed(in the sink) the dishes'. in this case it is adverbial phrase,or 'priya washed the dishes (that were in the sink,but not those ,say,on the table)',in which case it is an adjectival phrase
