HEY THERE!

Nationalism is strong belief that the interests of a particular nation-state are of primary importance. Also, the belief that a people who share a common language, history, and culture should constitute an independent nation, free of foreign domination

Most of us are taught to be patriotic growing up. Whether at home or in the classroom, we unconsciously develop a predilection for our respective countries.

From flag ceremonies, national anthems, to pledges of allegiance, we are invariably instilled with national pride. But as we grow up and become more aware of ourselves and the diverse world around us, we are forced to reconcile reality with our ingrained beliefs.

Nationalism in the modern world requires us to identify bias, discard emotions, and to think critically amidst suggestive news. Everybody wants to believe their country is the good guy, the victim in international quarrels, the defender of freedom for all of humanity.
