Sati - a former practice in India whereby a widow threw herself on to her husband's funeral pyre(the apparatus which was lit to burn the dead body). So basically, the woman had to die with her husband.

sati is former cruel practice practiced in india few years ago in which the widow ( a lady whose husband died) is burnet live with their died husband body

at the same time
polygamy does not hav to be illegal, it is was legal and still is in some places
