The larva or caterpillar is fed by mulberry leaves.

After that the caterpillar just converts into cocoon.

Normally the cocoon breaks and a silkworm arises out of it.

But to obtain the silk the silk industries put the cocoons in boiled water.

About 1500 cocoons are boiled to make just one silk thread.
