Answer: Light rays from a point source of light travel in all directions, moving away with time. Such a beam of light is called a divergent beam of light. A convergent beam of lightrays comes together (converges) after reflection and refraction at a single point known as the focus.

If a beam is moving and its area is increasing we can call it diverging and if it focus at one point we cal,l it convergent,..In the right side beam is spreading to more a rea so it is diverging.
