It is the axis of a stalk which lies between radicle and plumule in a seed is called embryonic axis or tigellum.

embryonic axis is the axis around which the whole body of the seed is arranged and it helps in many ways to provide stability to the embryo. due to the water uptake the radical and embryo axis elongates. This helps in the high rate of the water flow in the embryo. Aquaporins in the plants also helps in this regard.
