Acetal is the process in which the amonohydric alcohol of two equivalents is reacted up with an aldehyde.


This reaction will take place with dry HCl gas presence.


This will result in the formation of gem-dialkoxycompounds.


The two alkoxy group will be placed right on the terminal C-atom.  


Acetaldehyde or Ethanol and Ethanol  will give Ethanol diethyl acetal
