What is meant by 'Alankar' and what r the types of it?

Alankar (अलंकार) means ornaments and it is primarily used to enhance the beauty of a poem or (कव्यांश) Kavayansh. For instance, women use different types of ornaments to adorn their beauty and in same way, a poet uses various types of alankars to enhance his or her poem. Alankar is generally categorized into two groups that are as follows:

1. Shabdalankar (शब्दालंकार): The words that create a magical effect in the sentence or a paragraph are known as shabdalankar.

2. Arthalankar (अर्थालंकार): Artha means meaning. Arthalankar are the words that enrich the sentence or a paragraph.

1)शब्दालंकार-शब्दयोजना यांच्यावर आधारीत अलंकारांना ‘शब्दालंकार’ म्हणतात.

कवितेच्या चरणात एकाच अक्षराची पुनरावृत्ती होऊन त्यातील नादामुळे जेव्हा सौंदर्य प्राप्त होते तेव्हा अनुप्रास अलंकार होतो.

यमक-
एखादा शब्द किंवा अक्षर पुनःपुन्हा पद्यात आले, की तेथे ‘यमक’ हा अलंकार होतो. 

2)अर्थालंकार-दोन सुंदर वस्तूंमधील साम्य दर्शवून पद्यामध्ये अर्थचमत्कृती आणली जाते. तेथे अर्थालंकार होतो.
