The Anglo Maratha War ( 1775- 1818)
The marathas and the EEIC fought three wars before the Maratha power finally crumpled. This was due to disunity among the ruling Maratha clan and their power struggles. The peshwa was also involved in intrigues and factionalism. Sometimes, some of the factions used helped British to triumph over the others. Eventually under Lord Hastings, they dethroned the Peshwa and pensioned him off. The Peshwa territories were annexed while the other clans sighed the Subsidiary Alliance.
