Answer: Astra is the weapon which is used by releasing from one's hand or machine. If it is released from machine, it is called 'Yantramukta' e.g. Arrow, launcher etc. If it is released from hand, it is 'Panimukta'. e.g. spears, stones, hand-grenades etc. 'Shastra' is the weapon which is used by keeping it in hand.
