What is meant by Balkan. Why did it turn into perennial source of tension and proved the battlefield of first world war. Only girl will give the answer. I mark as brainleast

Balkan consisted of present day ; Romania , Macedonia , Albania , Bosnia - Herzegovina , Slovenia , Serbia , Montenegro , Crotia and Bulgaria

1. Balkan was ruled over by Ottoman Empire . Balkan wanted to be a nation state for which people organized struggles and fought . They claimed that in the history they were independent , hence , they should be independent in the present to.

2. INTERNAL CONFLICTS : 
The Balkan states wanted to grow in power , for which the states started fighting with each other..The Balkan states were jealous of each other and hoped to gain more territory.Hence Balkan became an area of intense conflict.

3. Then during that power , Russia , Austria - Hungary , Germany , England were keen on countering the hold of other powers over the Balkan. All 4 of them wanted to grow their power for which they wanted to capture Balkan.
This conflict after a series of fights ultimately led to WORLD WAR 1
