Breathing is the process of inhaling and exhaling air. The oxygen from the air is used in the process of respiration to break down food molecules to energy. One inhalation and exhalation constitutes one breath. Breathing rate is the number of breaths per minute. During vigorous exercise, our body needs more oxygen for respiration and production of more energy therefore increasing our breathing rate.
