The bretton woods agreement was build up the International Monetary fund, and the International bank for Reconstruction and Development after the second world war forbpost war reconstruction.
Also, the US dollar was given the standard of the International currency and itself was anchored to the value of gold. Thus it agreed upon fixed exchange rates, which proveed to not be useful in the future
