Bryophyte are simplest nd more primitive members of embryophyta. It is frist land planti also called amphibious plant. They are shade loving plant.
1. They grow on wet soil or wall nd on the bank of river or pond
2. Main plant body is gametophyte.
3. Vascular tissue are absent.
4. They have alternation of generation.
5. Water is essential for fertilization so they are called amphibious plant.
Example - Riccia, F uneria etc.
