It means: The upward force that a fluid exerts on an object that is less dense than itself. Buoyancy allows a boat to float on water and provides lift for people or goods. ... When an object is placed in a fluid the weight of the displaced fluid is equal to the buoyant force.

When a body is wholly dip or immersed in any liquid , an upwards force acts on it which is called as buoyant force. The property of the liquid responsible for this force is called buoyancy force.
