Chemical effects of electric current

➡The electric current passed through a molten / fused solid or aqueous solution results in the formation of free ions.

➡This fact is utilized in electrolysis. " Electrolysis is a process by which a substance in the molten / fused state undergoes decomposition resulting in the formation of free ions when electricity is passed through it.".

➡Hence these are the chemical effects of an electric current.

➡In fact electricity helps in the formation of free ions in a solution.

Electricity thus helps in ionisation and electrolytic dissociation.

So electricity is responsible for chemical reactions taking place in electrodes.

➡This is called chemical effect of electric current.

Hope it helps !
