It is a permanent tissue in meristematic tissues which mainly gives flexibility to the plant. It is the next stage of parenchyma cells. The cells are irregularly thickened at the corners due to the deposition of lignin along with cellulose. Intercellular spaces are minimized. It is basically present in the regions of leaf stalks, below the epidermal region.

Hope it helped you!!!
