Coping with emotions-

  1. Recognizing emotions in ourselves and others, as well as being aware of how emotions influence behaviour, are all part of coping with emotions.
  2. We should be able to appropriately respond to emotions.
  3. If we do not respond appropriately to intense emotions such as anger or sadness, they can have a negative impact on our health.
  4. This approach will not directly help you solve a problem, but it is an excellent tool for dealing with stressful situations that you cannot change or control.
  5. According to 2015 research, people who use emotion-focused coping strategies may be more resilient to stress and have higher overall wellness.

Two examples or methods of coping with emotions are-

1. Meditation

  • Meditation teaches you to recognise and accept all of your thoughts and experiences, even the difficult ones.
  • The main goal of meditation is mindfulness, which teaches us to recognise thoughts as they arise, accept them, and let them go without dwelling on them or judging ourselves for having them.

2. Journaling

  • Journaling is an excellent way to process and accept difficult emotions.
  • When something goes wrong, you may experience a range of complex, conflicting emotions.
  • They may feel jumbled up within you, making the prospect of sorting them out exhausting.
  • Or perhaps you're at a loss for words to express how you're feeling.
  • Exhaustion and confusion are valid emotions that can serve as a springboard for putting pen to paper.
  • Writing down your feelings, no matter how messy or complex they are, is sometimes the first step toward working through them.
  • Journaling may eventually provide a form of emotional catharsis as you purge them from your mind and into your journal.
