Answer:

Double circulation is the most efficient way of circulation. Here, in humans, the four-chambered heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries all have a vital role to play. Blood gets pumped out of the heart. This blood goes to different organs and then blood again comes back to the heart.

Double Circulation:

Blood passes through heart twice in completing one circulation throughout the body. Such circulation is called double circulation.

The oxygenated blood entering the aorta is carried by a network of arteries, arterioles and capillaries to the tissues from where deoxygenated blood is collected by a system of venules, veins and vena cava and emptied into the right atrium. This is called the systemic circulation.

Systemic circulation ensures supply O2 and nutrients to body tissues and removal of CO2 and wastes from them.

The pulmonary arteries supply deoxygenated blood from right ventricle to lungs and the pulmonary veins bring the oxygenated blood back to the left atrium. This pathway constitutes pulmonary circulation.

It ensures regular oxygenation of lungs blood in lungs and removal of CO2 from blood.

Coronary circulation ensures supply of blood to cardiac musculature.

Advantage of Double Circulation: As no mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood occurs in ventricles, this circulation is highly efficient.
