Basic definition of drainage is the removal of the surface’s water. The river system of an area is called drainage. The area drained by a single river system is called the drainage basin.
Benefits of the river:
i. Rivers provide water for drinking which is very essential for the survival of human beings.
ii. Rivers make delta, lakes and other water formations which helps people in different activities like transportation, etc.
iii. Rivers, when making floodplains, provide very fertile soil and makes the area suitable for cultivation of crops.
iv. River water is also used for irrigation activities and multi-purpose hydropower projects.
