What is meant by drift and diffusion in semiconductor?

diffusion current flows when there is diffusion of majority charge carriers across the pn junction due to concentration difference of majority charge carriers across the membrane of pn junction whereas when electron hole pairs are produced in depletion layer then electrons are drifted to n side and hole to p side ,as this continuously happens so there is flow of electrons leading to drift current
