The meaning of dual government is governance of two government on same state or province.

It was imposed in Bengal .The Nawab looked after the administration and the company controlled the army, the Judiciary and the revenue collection of Bengal.This arrangement gave immense power to the British without any responsibility but the general public Suffered. Thousands of people died in the Bengal amine in 1770 but the company did not have the victims and the Nawab did not have the resources.

The government which functions at two levels is known as Dual government . The dual government of bengal establish two steps of government functions~

(1) The company took the right to control army, judiciary,and revenue.

(2) And on the other hand ,The nawab look after the administration and need of people.

It lead to a public suffering during a great famine of bengal in 1770. The company did not help the people . The nawab was helpless due to the lack of resources.
