2) 9Ω resistance is cut into 3 equal parts. Therefore, the 9Ω resistance becomes 3 Ω individual resistances.

All 3 Ω resistances are connected in parallel

So, \frac{1}{R}_{p} = \frac{1}{R}_{1}   + \frac{1}{R}_{2}   + \frac{1}{R}_{3}

1/Rp = 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3

1/Rp = 3/3

1/Rp =  1/1

  Rp =   1 Ω

Therefore the equivalent resistance of the combination is 1Ω
