Example - Sodium- Electronic Configuration = 2,8,1
it's means in first shell it has 2 electrons, 2nd shell = 8 and last shell = 3, it also depicts the valency, since there is 1 electron in outermost shell, it's valency is 1.
But according to std 12, it's configuration can be written as 1s², 2s², 2p⁶, 3s¹
