what is meant by electroplating? what is the purpose of electroplating?write down important point s which should be remembered while electroplating

hi there!
i'm kinjal
Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode.
Electroplating is widely used in various industries for coating metal objects with a thin layer of a different metal. The layer of metal deposited has some desired property, which the metal of the object lacks. For example, chromium plating is done on many objects such as car parts, bath taps, kitchen gas burners, wheel rims and many others for the fact that chromium is very corrosion-resistant, and thus prolongs the life of the parts. It is also used in making expensive jewelry.Points to remember are:
i) The metal object on which the electroplating is to be done should be negative electrode. Therefore it is connected to the negative terminal of the battery.
ii)The metal which should be deposited should be a positive electrode.
iii)The water soluble salt of the"metal to be deposited" is taken as electrolyte.
Hope it helps u.

Explanation:
electroplating is basically a process of planting a metal onto the other metal by hydrolysis mostly to prevent corrosion of metal or for the decorative process.
and the propose of electroplating is that when a current is applied to the cook the metal ions in the solution are reduced on the electron to form a thin layer
