Electrostatic force also called the Coulomb force is the Coulomb interaction, attraction or the repulsion of particles or objects because of their electric charge. It is the force that exists between the electrically charged particles or objects at the time of rest. For examples - When a silk or cotton cloth is ironed and is kept right in front of the person,  they will just cling on their body. Another major example of electrostatic force is the lightning.

Since, electrostatic force is the force that attracts and objects, thus it is a non-contact force. This is because it attracts object towards other objects that do not include the contact between objects. Hence, electrostatic force is the force that is exerted by charged body on another charged or uncharged body.
